Spicy Vujon Bangor

Indian Is far from being my favorite only because I'm scared to try hot things, everything I eat, has to be mild, I can't go through the sweating and the fierce gasping of air. In fact a Chicken Tikka is my limit! Which I'm quite disappointed about because I can't have a real taste and experience of food that India has to offer.

But to be fair I am a sucker for a good Korma! So with the reassurance of Jerri,  Spicy Vujon Special Chicken Korma with pilau rice, plain naan bread which followed after 2 poppadoms... each   ")

After the poppadoms with mango and mint sauce, which i fell in love with, the mango more than the mint, we were served our main. The waiter bought our food on a trolly, admittedly never seen a waiter and a trolly before, I am not going to lie I thought to myself...he's a little lazy isn't he, but then i remembered we had a table of 9 and if I had a trolly when I used to work as a waiter...I'd take it any day of the week... Moving on.

Now please comment upon this, the factor is, me and Jerri, we shared a portion of rice, which was fine but you know that moment you have nice food in front of you with plenty of sauce but u need rice to eat it with and you realise it is on Jerri's plate, not your own and then you come to the conclusion that sharing rice wasn't a good idea in an indian even though she convinced you it's 'what you do in an Indian' But as stated my korma was1st class, with amazing texture and just made me want more! With the colourful rice, it was a very beautiful dish. Not being very experimental with my indian ( I will soon I promise) I had the plain naan which I used to soak up my korma sauce (since I didn't have enough rice) and it tasted so good. Very Rich and Full of taste! YUM! I will be going there again

Dessert was to follow, but very disappointing :( for one, the outer chocolate shell over my ice cream was cracked, and it was literally  out of a pot. No 'cooking' at all :( makes me sad :( but then again it was nice :( i wanted something made for me, SORT IT OUT SPICY VUJON otherwise im only having the curry -_-

Summary;
Great Service with polite waiters, Location wasn't the best, I like to sit out of the window and watch the world go by, even though it was bangor, there wasn't a world going by and I wasn't directly next to the window. It was expensive but i've realised it's the trend of an Indian restaurant ( I could be wrong). But you do get great quality and service but shame about the dessert :(

Chicken

There are more chickens on earth than humans.

America eats 8 billion chickens a year.

In the U.S. 46% of all chicken eaten is consumed in restaurants.

Americans eat 80 pounds of chicken per capita, which is more than beef at 63 pounds per capita.

Hooters restaurants sell 30 million pounds of chicken wings each year. That is enough to circle the earth at the equator.

A headless chicken can run the length of a football field before dropping dead.

Chicken has to be without a shadow of a doubt the most popular and cheapest meat on the market! For this reason it has been used in so many dishes all over the world, and not only does this simple animal produce us this simple yet versatile meat, it pops out eggs as well! Now on the whole i cant say I like the look of a chicken but put that poor creature on my plate and ill say see ya :)

Cooking Secret: I always find it hard to shape my chicken, because its full of fiber strings going across its hard to cut a 'perfect' cube shaped pice of chicken, or if its a poor quality, then its hard to cut it into thin strips etc. So what I
 do is boil them :) Now i mainly cook with chicken breast so i boil the chicken in a lightly salted pan for about 10 minutes tops, no more. Then because the chicken becomes tender and firm, i can shape it into tidy strips or shapes as i want to, then i usually fry it in choose flavours or whatever i had planned for dinner :) If the Chicken inside is undercook dont worry, you're going to continue to cook it, either be boiling or frying, grilling and this will cook the rest of the chicken through still giving you the perfect chicken in the way you want it.

Nicely Shaped Chicken

Dish; Just like Cornels:

2 TS of Mixed Herbs
2 TS of Jerk Chicken Seasoning
1 TS of Salt&Peper (one Each)
1 TS of Flour
1 TS of Garlic Granules
Bowl of Milk

Pre Heat you Deep Fat fryer to Maximum. Mix all the seasoning and the flour together well.
With your pieces chicken simply dip them into the milk before tarnsfering transferring  them to the the seasoning plate, where you will cover the chicken making sure every sector is coverd covered with seasoning.
Then simply lower the chicken carefully into the fryer, watching out for splashing oil.
Continue these steps until all chicken is in the fryer ensuring you dont over fill the fryer. Let the chicken fry freely in the oil until it is floating on the surface of the oil, once the chicken pieces are floating there are done.
Quickly remove the chicken into a bowel with kitchen paper to drain out the oil.
After a minute or so serve with plenty of sauce and enjoy chicken, Just Like Cornels.

Mikes Bites

There is no secret why student love Mikes Bites, after spending £40 in £ap in Yellow (I know what your thinking how? One round cost me £24 :/ ) I was well on my way for a hangover, so after a moider on the phone with mother me, Jerri, Anna and Steve made our way to Mikes Bites.

 Hangover Heaven. It's not too often you can go to a cafe and find food you would at home, simple full english fry up breakfast, WOW. Hangover cure; now not being a fan of mushrooms, a hash brown was used to replace instead, and the portion served is brilliant! After stuffing that down with a large mug of tea, it's a great place to chill out and enjoy watching Bangor move on by!

It's never rare to find simplisty simplicity, fully satisfying anyone, but the people at Mikes Bites do it so well, I would advise anyone wanting a good slap up meal at fair prices to go Mikes and even more so to cure the post-night hangover. Mikes 1-0 Hangover ...Ill be back soon ;)   : D

STUDENT APPROVED

Mostyn

Im sure my first pint was in Varsity £ap. Now everyone who's ever been to Varsity, on a Thursday night in bangor will know...It's not the best pint in the world and this put me off lager big time. Now with cider as my drinking weakness I grew up and developed a bitter taste and now, older and wiser, a good cold lager can be very refeshing  refreshing.  After a night in Mostyn I can officially say it's very close in being the best lager I've ever had! It's such an enjoyable pub. Very well kept, so homely and inviting. It was so good that im going to make Mostyn a 'treat' I very much enjoyed it and cant wait to go back and enjoy it again :)

Mostyn, my Treat

Antelope, Bangor

So here I begin my journy journey, and we begin with The Antelope.

Situated nicely on the menai straight with a great view of the island! Well nice! As an islander it was nice to see where I call home on this beautiful frosty day over the straight.

With great location, the inside is just as good, with polite and helpful service and great chilled out atmosphere.

I started with Sticky BBQ Chicken Wings as Jerri got Prawn Salad. The wings were so much hassle free, I don't know if I got lucky with the pices pieces I got but I tell you something I striped the chicken off, which tasted great, with full flavour in the BBQ sauce to go with the honey and mustard dipping sauce and a small garnish. LOVED IT.  Jerri's Prawn salad wasn't bad either, very light but annoyed I couldn't get the small prawns on my fork :? I'll work on it!

Now for my lasagne; I ordered chips to go with the meal (I didn't need it) plenty on the plate, but I did get extra garlic bread. :p With garlic bread as my guilty pleasure I enjoyed every little bit of the meal! Great homemade lasagne with no decorations. Just here it is, eat it...and I did :p as well as Jerri's Cod, light flakey fish in light batter! YUM! Lovely

What better way to finish a 3 course meal than with an Apple Pie? TASTY! To be honest it took me ages to decide to either have Custard or Ice Cream, and in the end with the only logical reasoning I had in my head I choose Custard, why? Because I'm 20 and only little children have ice cream -_- (Damn You Mam Making Me Grow Up!) But Never the less it was very enjoyable;  I just wanted more, but my evolved stomatche stomach made to eat wouldn't have any of it :( but never the less it was very enjoyable.

And on that note as I sat there drinking my chill-out lager, deciding how to get home, with no signal on my phone it came to my conclution conclusion, except for the fact I had no signal, this place isn't bad at all to come and just relax and enjoy someones company such as Jerri. I can not at all hesitate for a second that, The Antelope is a place I woud suggest to a friend, or anyone, to go and enjoy food. :) I'll be going back :)

From The Beginning

So I'm Chilling and Thinking of all the things mam always told me about me;

"Jason, You're a Human Dustbin!!"
"Jason, You Should of Done Catering GCSE not Graphic Design"
"Jason, Why Don't You Become a Chef? You're Useless at Football"
"So What Have You And Steve Cooked Today Then?"

Then i Thought What My Girlfriend Says To Me;

"Jason, Can You Make Me Food?"
"But Jason, You Always Cook For Me"
"I Bought You a Spice Rack, Fed Up Of All These Small Pots In My Cupboard"
"Jason, You're An Alcoholic"

Then I Thought What Do i Watch On Tv When I'm Home With Mam;

-Man V's Food
-Ace of Cakes
-Cake Boss
-Ready Steady Cook
-Come Dine With Me (Convinced i could Win This!)

So I decided to become Eating Bangor where I will Go round Giving my opinion on What I'll consume and I'll be posting about random things I'll cook and whip up, especially now I have a smoothie maker...or a food processor I manipulate .... But Yeah :)
